Start with counting numbers

one plus one is two

Add up high , go to bigger numbers

after walking few miles , it'll be difficult to move


Then comes complex calculations

sin square ,cos square ,square root and lot

Journey from now is draped with tensions

Solve more and be the genius of the street


You think you know its mighty tricks ?

not so soon it is just the start

Exams question your hard-earned basics

and again you'll start


Its easy to mug up the value of pi

than sit and derive how and why

axioms you prefer , as your experience evolve

but only the theorems are thrown for you to solve


You then conclude its not your forte

all you need is a degree to earn green-backs

This is a sea , night-outs, copy slips etc ..your boat

Once the shore is reached , sell all heavy hard-backs



But future laughs at you , your kid fail in its test

and you get furious, hypocrisy at its best

mathematics itself is a hard task master

Its with you forever , you like or hate it

all through your life and may be beyond it
