Having some one to listen

My grandpa says

It's luck to have someone to listen to him at his age

When breathing itself becomes a daunting chore

when thoughts of past bury you in their cage

when all his talk is thought as just a bore

It's luck to have someone to listen to him at his age

when strength dwindles and bones grow weak

when walking a mile is a marathon

when all he loves is to let his heart speak

It's luck to have someone to listen to him at his age

when all these years he listened patiently

to the wishes and needs of his family

In this lap of his life, he says simply

It's luck to have someone to listen to him at his age

One day he's gone, old man to his final sleep

stories untold, were left to vacant air

whenever a breeze blows past me whistling

I hear him speaking to me there.
